FDA-Approved Saliva-Based COVID-19 Testing from BioIQ

Baseline Testing

Baseline testing establishes a starting point and can uncover hidden costs you may face by identifying risk in your population. Identifying risk before you are required to shut down, and do extensive cleaning, can be a much lower cost than responding to an unknown infection.

No testing at this point rule out the presence of disease completely in a tested individual, or protect them from becoming infectious in the near term. However, it is important to begin collecting the data while the testing is expanded and refined to permit such accuracy in the near future.

To be effective testing needs to non-intrusive to the individual with test results provided timely. A testing baseline is necessary, to begin an effective monitoring program, and should start with the testing of the entire employee population.

Currently, sourcing testing in a timely manner is problematic as industry gears up for the significant number of tests that will be required at a national level. The fragmented laboratory supply chain cannot meet the availability and turnaround times for Covid-19 testing. An effective program needs optionality across labs to ensure constant supply and timely supporting of results. Another major challenge of the current testing system is a shortage of testing materials and the extremely invasive nature of the nasal swab based testing.

The Safe Work Return program utilizes BioIQ’s FDA approved saliva based Covid-19 testing. For over a decade BioIQ has been a national leader in the management of analytics, testing, education and care navigation for such important diseases as colorectal cancer and diabetes. With the outbreak of the pandemic, BioIQ introduced the Covid-19 solution to enable employers to quickly access non-invasive testing resources critical to protecting employees and high-risk individuals.

The test is easily self-administered by the employee, and then the completed test kit is expressed shipped to the lab for processing, with test results available in 24-48 hours.

Employers have the ability to design a routine and regular re-testing program with the BioIQ Saliva testing approach, since it has rapid turn-around for results, and is not intrusive for employees to complete.

The baseline testing process should apply to all newly hired employees, or employees returning to the company as a part of re-hiring. Employers should maintain an inventory of kits available to provide to these new or returning employees, as well as for re-testing of anyone identified by the Symptom Checker or Employee Activity Tracker.
